Quick summary
Welcome to N+One Beta. On first sign-in you’ll complete a short onboarding flow that captures your profile, asks about device integrations, builds your initial training plan, and shows a review screen. New accounts without a completed profile are sent straight to /onboarding.
This article explains the steps, why each step matters, and what you can skip or return to later.
Before you start
- Create an account at /auth/signup, or sign in at /auth/login if you already have an account.
- Check your inbox for an email verification link (details below). You won’t be able to finish setup without verifying your email.
- If you want the app on your phone like a native app, read /install-pwa for the PWA install guide.
Email verification
Why: We use email verification to secure your account and ensure notifications reach you.
What to expect:
- After signing up you’ll receive an email with a verification link. Open the message and tap the verification link.
- If you don’t see it, check spam/junk and any focused/other tabs.
- If the link expired or you didn’t get it, sign in at /auth/login and a resend option will be offered.
If verification fails or you see an error while completing verification, try signing in again and check for on-screen troubleshooting tips.
The onboarding flow (what you’ll do on /onboarding)
Onboarding is chat-based and broken into four compact steps. It’s designed to capture the essentials so the AI coach can tailor your first plan.
-
Chat-based profile capture
- A short conversation collects basics: training history, goals, typical weekly time available, and preferred training style.
- This replaces long forms with a quick guided chat so the system has the context it needs to personalize sessions.
-
Integrations step
- You’ll be invited to connect device accounts to sync data or upload workouts. Available integrations shown on the Integrations page include Strava, Wahoo, WHOOP, and Garmin. Oura Ring is listed but marked “full integration coming soon” and is not active today.
- Why connect:
- Strava: activity sync (useful for auto-importing rides). The app honors a profile preference to exclude commute activities where applicable.
- Wahoo: connect to sync activities and (when enabled) upload planned workouts to ELEMNT and KICKR devices.
- WHOOP: syncs strain, recovery, and sleep data to improve readiness modeling.
- Garmin: sync activities and health metrics (sleep, HRV, RHR) for readiness; also supports upload of planned workouts to Garmin Connect/devices when enabled.
- You can connect any of these now or skip and connect later from Settings → Device Integrations (/settings/integrations).
-
Training plan step
- Based on your profile and any synced data, N+One builds an adaptive plan. Plans are dynamic: they update as you ride, rest, or change availability.
- If you already have recent activity data (from Strava, Garmin, Wahoo uploads), the plan will incorporate that history.
-
Review
- A final screen summarizes your profile, connected integrations, and the first week of planned sessions.
- Confirm and finish to land on the primary dashboard (/overview).
Skipping integrations: when to skip and what you lose
- You can skip integrations during onboarding and still use N+One. The core AI coach and plan builder work with the profile you provide.
- Without integrations:
- Automatic activity sync and detailed ride history won’t be available until you connect a device account.
- Readiness modeling is less precise if you don’t connect a sleep/HRV source (WHOOP or Garmin health metrics).
- Uploading planned workouts to devices requires Wahoo or Garmin and their upload setting to be enabled.
Tip: If you’re unsure, skip now and connect devices later at /settings/integrations. The app will prompt to connect integrations again if it needs data to improve recommendations.
Handling OAuth messages and errors
- OAuth returns may surface success or error query messages (for example: oauth_failed, whoop_profile_failed, unauthorized). If you see an OAuth error:
- Retry the connect flow from /settings/integrations.
- Make sure you allow permissions requested by the third-party service.
- If problems persist, use Settings → Help & Support (/settings/support) to contact support.
After onboarding
- Completed onboarding redirects you to the Overview dashboard (/overview) — your home for training load, readiness, and the next-session recommendations.
- The AI Coach (/coach) is available as a fullscreen chat for conversational guidance (requires network).
- Training sessions appear in /training. Session details live at /training/[id].
Offline and PWA notes
- N+One is a Progressive Web App. If you want app-like behavior, follow /install-pwa to add it to your home screen.
- Offline behavior: previously viewed pages may work from cache, but AI chat and new sync require network. See /offline for details about what works offline.
Need help?
- Open Settings → Help & Support (/settings/support) for FAQs and the contact form.
- For integration-specific questions, open Settings → Device Integrations (/settings/integrations).
- Read more about adaptive plans and training science in the knowledge base: /knowledge-base/science-adaptive-training-plans-cyclists and learn about FTP at /knowledge-base/understanding-ftp-the-foundation-of-power-based-training.
If anything blocks you during first login or onboarding, the support team can help — use the in-app contact form on /settings/support.
